Enjoy the outdoors in Grand Island with 32 local parks and miles of hike & bike trails.

RECREATION

While Grand Island has a wealth of big city amenities, the beauty of the Platte River and rolling Nebraska Sandhills are just a few miles away. Hunting and water sport opportunities are plentiful, making this area a dream come true for nature lovers and outdoorsmen. When the Great Outdoors beckons, you are never far from places to camp, boat, canoe, kayak, or sit back and enjoy the splendor of the Nebraska plains.

ENTERTAINMENT

Tourism is Nebraska’s third largest industry. You will find some of the state’s finest attractions in Grand Island, such as Island Oasis, Stuhr Museum, Heartland Shooting Park, and the annual sandhill crane migration.

ARTS & CULTURE

Grand Island is rich in experiences to satisfy your cultural side. Favorites include the Concert Association’s annual line-up of exceptional instrumental ensembles from all over the world, and Grand Island Little Theater’s lively assortment of productions featuring local talent. And, if artwork and history are of interest, the options are plentiful in our Railside downtown area and at the Stuhr Museum.

Grand Island’s downtown has gone through a transformative process in the last 10 years.

What once was an underutilized part of the community is quickly becoming one of the hottest places to eat, shop and gather.

HEAR Grand Island is a free summer concert series located in the Railside Plaza that runs from early June to late August and features indie bands from across Nebraska.

The development is just getting started downtown. Several buldings are currenlty undergoing renovations into upscale apartments and office and worshop space.

Nebraska State Fair

Grand Island is proud to be the home of the Nebraska State Fair, where 330,000 people of all ages come each year for high energy fun and a celebration of agriculture.
